BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION Singer's Psychic Predicts Huge Success For Group's New Album

October 28, 2005

Leonard Martinez of the El Paso Times recently conducted an interview with BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION frontman London LeGrand. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

On marrying the sound of very different bands into their own music:

"With (first CD) 'Here Come the Brides', we were going in every single direction. We thought, 'How can we do this? We're used to going in one direction.' We're into psychobilly, into old-school country, death metal, black metal, old-school punk and every single thing that is out there. So we decided to keep the record that way.

"I don't think bands realize they're pigeonholing themselves when they start a band and they try and say they're looking for other guys for the band who are into the same two or three bands. Before you know it, they write stuff better than the bands they are into. Now where do you take it? ...They try to move in another direction, but they think the fans will hate them for it.

"So the best thing to do is have a lot of different sounds you are into and not limit yourself."

On the band's current club tour being more intimate than usual:

"It's kind of an underground club tour where we are doing most of the advertising through the Internet and some magazines. It's giving people who have followed us since the beginning a chance to see us on a more intimate scale, where they can even hang out with us. Sometimes, clubs have their own security who won't let fans near you, and the clubs turn into arenas, and it's harder to meet the fans.

"Our fans are our friends and family to us. We like this kind of tour because we're right up in their faces. We get to show our appreciation."

On being a firm believer in psychics:

"One of the psychics I cater to said they see this album ['Runaway Brides'] having four to five hits. They said that in three to five years, they see us having ridiculous success.

"[Ten years ago] I came to L.A. with two other guys, and we went to the psychic. The psychic said, 'One of you will go back home,' and one guy ended up going back to Atlanta. 'One of you will have moderate success;' that was the guy who played in a local act that did OK for a while. 'And another one of you will have success beyond your wildest dreams.' "
